Walgreens Research Demonstrates How Face-to-Face Pharmacy and Take Care Clinic Programs Help Drive Better Health Outcomes, Including for Medicaid Patients

LAS VEGAS, March 05, 2012 - At the IMS Managed Markets Services/Data Niche Conference in Las Vegas on March 1, Walgreens National Medical Director Robert London, M.D., outlined how Walgreens research has demonstrated the ability of face-to-face pharmacy and Take Care ClinicSM programs to drive better health outcomes across a number of conditions and disease states. Dr. London also highlighted the benefits of these types of programs for the Medicaid population in particular.

Walgreens Has Record Signup of Nearly 125,000 Customers in First Week of New Year for Prescription Savings Club

DEERFIELD, Ill., Jan. 9, 2012 - Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (NASDAQ: WAG) today reported that it had a record signup of nearly 125,000 customers for its Prescription Savings Club (PSC) in the first week of the new year. Many pharmacy patients who have prescription insurance plans managed by Express Scripts are signing up for the drug discount program as they look for alternatives to continue filling their prescriptions at Walgreens. Record numbers of daily signups were registered throughout the past week.

Walgreens Launches Comprehensive “Patient Transition Plan” for Express Scripts Members to Minimize Disruption and Inconvenience

DEERFIELD, Ill., December 30, 2011 - Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) (NASDAQ: WAG) today unveiled a comprehensive national effort to help patients who are covered by an Express Scripts, Inc., pharmacy network to continue using Walgreens when possible or to make a smooth transition to another community pharmacy. The plan seeks to minimize patient disruption and inconvenience when Express Scripts, a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), ceases in-network coverage of prescriptions filled at Walgreens on Jan. 1, 2012. Walgreens Patient Transition Plan will assist Express Scripts members who depend on the chain’s more than 7,800 pharmacies after the PBM rejected Walgreens offer to reach a negotiated agreement before the existing contract expires on Dec. 31, 2011.

Over 250,000 Tricare Beneficiaries, Supporters Petition Express Scripts on Behalf of Walgreens

WASHINGTON, December 08, 2011 - More than a quarter of a million U.S. military personnel, family members, retirees and others in the Department of Defense Tricare pharmacy benefits program, and their supporters, so far have signed petitions demanding access to Walgreens (NYSE: WAG)(NASDAQ: WAG) pharmacies under the Tricare pharmacy program. The pace of petition signatures from Tricare members seeking to retain access to Walgreens and their supporters has reached more than 10,000 per week in recent weeks.
